THE LEVER is a space opera with mostly LGBTQ characters. It’s set in a future a couple hundred years from now when we’ve colonized the Moon and we’re starting on Mars and a couple of other celestial bodies in our vicinity. The global standard of living has risen to the point that bearing siblings or any children at all is an uncommon event, and young people become a rare and sought-after minority.
So when Shonda Kinney hears that young people are being abducted, it is easily dismissed as the work of corporate raiders, telomerase farms, or human sex traffickers. But there is something different about the first couple she investigates. They were receiving genetic therapy, and all records of their existence got expunged.
Eventually, she and 3 of the abducted gay soldiers end up on Mars and then on the other side of the galaxy where any misstep may doom the human race.
